Unraveling the Silent Nature of Strokes

Often, strokes are perceived as dramatic, immediate, and unmistakable health events. However, the truth is, many strokes go unnoticed, misinterpreted, or are even entirely asymptomatic. ‘Silent strokes’ are a far more common phenomenon than people realize.

Silent strokes can be difficult to identify because they generally don’t present typical stroke symptoms like severe headaches, dizziness, or loss of coordination. Often, they affect parts of the brain not associated with visible functions, thus making detection more challenging without medical imaging.

It’s important to note that even though they may not cause noticeable symptoms, silent strokes still inflict damage to the brain and can contribute to an increased risk of future strokes and cognitive decline.

Regular check-ups, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and addressing risk factors can greatly reduce your likelihood of experiencing a silent stroke. At Vital Heart & Vein, our expert medical team uses advanced diagnostics to identify and manage silent strokes, aiming to protect your cognitive health and overall well-being

Procedures

Angioplasty, Stent & Atherectomy

A primary component of our services is our ability to provide angioplasty, stent insertion, and atherectomy procedures. Our highly experienced team excels in these minimally invasive procedures aimed at restoring blood flow in clogged or narrowed arteries. Angioplasty uses a small balloon to widen the artery, stent insertion helps to keep the artery open, and atherectomy scrubs away plaque build-up. Employing these advanced strategies, we focus on mitigating risks, reducing symptoms and enhancing your life quality.

Carotid Endarterectomy

Carotid Endarterectomy is a critical surgical procedure offered at Vital Heart & Vein. It’s primarily used to prevent strokes in individuals experiencing significant blockages in their carotid arteries. Our proficient team excels in carefully removing fatty deposits (plaque) from these arteries, thereby restoring regular blood flow to your brain. With our commitment to patient care and utilizing industry-leading techniques, we play a pivotal role in significantly reducing the risk of stroke.

Dialysis Access – AV Fistula & Graft

Maintaining efficient and comfortable dialysis access is critical to patients requiring dialysis treatments. We specialize in providing expert care in constructing and caring for dialysis access points such as Arteriovenous (AV) fistulas and grafts. Our well-equipped team employs both surgical and minimally invasive procedures to create these lifelines, designed to withstand repeated needling for dialysis.

Surgical Bypass

At Vital Heart & Vein, we offer comprehensive cardiovascular care including Surgical Bypass procedures. This technique, performed by our highly skilled team, is pivotal in treating severe blockages in arteries which aren’t amenable to less invasive treatments. The bypass procedure involves grafting a vessel from another part of the body to circumvent the obstructed artery, restoring blood flow.

Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR)

One such modern, life-changing procedure we offer is Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR). Ideally suited for patients with severe aortic stenosis who may be at high risk for traditional open-heart surgery, TAVR offers a less invasive way to replace the aortic valve. Using a catheter, our skilled team facilitates valve replacement, greatly reducing the recovery time and risk associated with major surgeries.

Transcarotid Artery Revascularization (TCAR)

A key offering at our center is Transcarotid Artery Revascularization (TCAR) — a clinically-proven, minimally invasive procedure used to treat carotid artery disease. Our skilled TCAR experts utilize this state-of-the-art technique to significantly reduce the risk of stroke, streamline patient recovery, and enhance overall treatment outcomes.
