New Study Says Relaxation Techniques May Lower High Blood Pressure

Apr 11, 2025 | Blood Pressure, Videos

Dr. Khaled Khalaf appeared on KPRC2 / Click2Houston with health reporter KPRC2 Haley Hernandez to weigh in on a new study showing relaxation techniques like breath control, meditation, yoga and tai chi can lower blood pressure – in just a few months!
‍♀️ Breath control: ↓ 6.65 mmHg
Meditation: ↓ 7.71 mmHg
Tai Chi/Yoga: ↓ 9.58 mmHg
Mindfulness: ↓ 9.90 mmHg
“We don’t want to keep throwing medications at people. We want people to be able to naturally resolve their hypertension and unfortunately, there’s no way to do that apart from having a healthy lifestyle, which involves diet and exercise. But with this study, I think helps show that meditation and having low psychological stress also plays a big role,” said Dr. Khalaf.
