Joshua V. Zuniga, MD is a Houston native and interventional cardiologist dedicated to delivering compassionate, patient-centered cardiovascular care. He specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of coronary artery disease, heart attack, and peripheral vascular disease using the latest minimally invasive techniques and imaging.

Dr. Zuniga earned his Bachelor of Science from Texas A&M University, where he proudly graduated as an Aggie, before receiving his medical degree from McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine and a fellowship in Vascular Medicine at Emory University, followed by fellowship training in Cardiovascular Disease and advanced fellowship training in Interventional Cardiology at the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles.

His clinical expertise includes coronary angiography, percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), intravascular imaging, coronary physiology, mechanical circulatory support, and the management of acute and complex coronary syndromes. His training in vascular medicine also provides specialized expertise in the evaluation and treatment of peripheral arterial and venous disease.

In addition to interventional cardiology, Dr. Zuniga has a special interest in preventive cardiology, lipidology, cardiovascular imaging, and vascular medicine. He believes that the best cardiovascular care combines advanced procedures with early detection, aggressive risk-factor modification, and personalized treatment plans that help patients live longer, healthier, and more functional lives.

Dr. Zuniga is proud to return home to care for the Houston community that helped shape him. Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time with his family and dog, strength training, rowing, and photography.

“I believe the best interventional cardiologist is one who is just as passionate about treating heart disease with all the tools at their disposal as they are about preventing heart disease with early detection and risk factor modification. Sometimes the best cardiovascular care starts long before a procedure is needed. But when intervention is needed — there’s nothing more rewarding than helping someone feel better and improving quality of life.”
